Ethiopia's National Consultative Conference is underway. IGAD Secretary General Workneh Gebeyehu (Dr.), who was present at the opening of the conference, said that there is no country in the history of the world that has benefited from conflict. He stated that the so-called better countries have reached a better level because they put their country first, listened and talked to each other.
Ethiopia is not a new country searching for its identity. They say it was one of the oldest and strongest civilizations on earth. He said reconciliation ceremonies are deeply rooted in our history and culture and are very beautiful.
Our elders are blessed with wisdom; They said that Ethiopia has the key to heal its own wounds. He said there is no need to look outside for answers to our problems.
Ethiopians have many examples of how we have built our country and strengthened our country, which is a solution for Africa and beyond, not just solving problems.
He said that today should be a fundamental turning point in our political culture. They said that we should reinterpret what is considered normal in political life.
In any society with a different identity, it is normal to have different views on governance, distribution of wealth and representation; But what is a fundamental mistake and we should discuss in this hall today and reject the efforts to resolve our differences by force, he said.
He said that we should show the international community that Ethiopians can solve their differences through pen power, dialogue and mutual respect.
"Ethiopia's history is made in the future by talking. Ethiopian mothers, fathers, youth and children are looking at you today, they are looking at you not with despair but with enthusiasm and great hope," he said.
"Conflict and Suffering Must End in Ethiopia". Even for ourselves, we are a symbol of freedom for Africa. "All issues can and should be resolved through discussion and dialogue as we started today," he said.
