It has been stated that the community dialogue started in Jile Tamuga district to prevent intimate partner sexual violence and to create healthy social relations has been strengthened.
The Women, Youth and Social Affairs Office of Jile Tamuga District in collaboration with the 3R-4-CACE project is holding wide discussion forums in selected kebeles in the district.
In the program held today, discussion groups in all experimental kebeles held their seventh (7th) discussion session. It is known that the trial implementation of this program has been made accessible in four areas located under Mutefefa and Balkh Kebeles.
It has been stated that the main purpose of the discussion is to empower the community to protect itself by recognizing the harmful practices that may occur in relationships and intimate partner violence.
The coordinator and experts of the project were present and observed the process of the discussions and confirmed that the program is bringing positive changes to the participants.
The coordinator of 3R-4-CACE project, Mr. Syed Ali, who was present at the scene, said, "The discussion forum that is being held at the level of the kebeles is laying a strong foundation for the community to bring about a change in behavior."
Ato Sayed also pointed out that the culture of the community to have free discussions about the relations and solve problems through peaceful discussion is a guarantee for the future of peaceful solidarity.
It has been observed that a total of 432 different community groups, including adult men and women and young men and women, are actively participating in community discussion forums.
Members of the public who participated in the discussion expressed that the discussion forum has greatly increased their understanding of healthy social relations.
In the past, there was no culture of openly discussing pressures and problems in the family, but now we have gained a great understanding to create a healthy relationship that follows the law and ethics, the participants added.
The information obtained from the office of women, children, youth and social affairs of the district indicates that the discussions based on prevention will continue to be strengthened as sexual violence committed by intimate partners causes serious damage to family and community peace.
